Reading Slump! Help!

discussion

I haven’t read a single book for TWO WEEKS now. I don’t know what’s happening. I tried. I tried to read 5 books but every time I open a book it all felt dreadful. I’m not even pressuring myself with all these blogging stuff. I’m not trying to be anyone else. I’m not reading the same books like everybody else.

I suffered this kind of slump before but this is SOMETHING ELSE. You know, every time I felt like this its either because of blogging or TOO MUCH CONTEMPORARY BOOKS. But I haven’t even read a contemporary book for awhile now. Every time I suffered this kind of shit, my always to-go-read-genre is mystery or psychological and now, I can’t even handle the thought of reading mystery much less any genre.

Now, I’m asking you guys… Have you suffered this kind of slump? WHAT DID YOU DO? I DEMAND TO KNOW. In the meantime, I’m currently re-watching Hell Girl. I’m preparing myself for season 3. KYAA!

  1. Whenever I go through a reading slump I try reading something entirely different from what I was reading before. So, like, if I had been reading a lot of fantasy books, I’ll pick up a travel memoir or something.

Or I switch formats! I’ll try reading a graphic novel or some short stories. Usually that’ll work.

Good luck! I hope you get out of your slump soon.

  2. Oh, last year I wasn’t reading as much as I’d like. And this year, I’ve had a few short slumps. I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you, unless you generate income from your blog. But if this is a hobby and not a job, then it should be fun and not coerced. I suggest you take advantage of the slump by doing other things like what you’re doing right now — watching your favorite show — or going out with friends, or Christmas shopping or baking or whatever. Or by simply doing nothing. Sometimes it’s just what we need to reset. I’m sure you’ll figure it out. 🙂
